The warm scent of coffee and tea filled the Eatontown Board of Education office on a chilly fall day this month thanks to a group of students who run The Hawk’s Roast coffee cart at Memorial Middle School. From taking orders and preparing drinks to making deliveries, Mrs. Coyne Ritter’s class is gaining hands-on experience that blends learning with real-world skills. The Hawk’s Roast process begins with collecting and organizing orders, followed by positively decorating each cup. They proudly delivered each patron’s request, practicing communication and teamwork along the way. With each transaction, they count and record payments - building confidence in responsibility.
This is far more than just a caffeine boost, it’s an opportunity for students to grow their independence, develop workplace skills, and take pride in their school community.
The Eatontown Board of Education office truly appreciates The Hawk’s Roast and look forward to submitting more orders next month!
