Dear Parents and Guardians,

It’s hard to believe that it’s already time for the end-of-year Diagnostic! We will begin this assessment the week of May 22, 2023. This is an important benchmark for understanding your student’s progress and growth over the course of the year, which is why it’s so important that they try their best. As with our previous Diagnostic administrations, there are some critical steps we need to take to make sure students are fully prepared and ready to try their best.

Here are a few things you can do to help support your student:

  • As always, make sure they get a good night’s rest before taking the Diagnostic.

  • Talk to your student about why the last Diagnostic is important. You can say things like:

    • The last Diagnostic helps you find out how much progress you’ve made over the course of this school year.

    • It allows your teacher and I to celebrate your accomplishments!

    • Try your best, and do not rush—but don’t spend too much time on a question either.

  • Let them know you’re excited to celebrate their progress.

We would like to remind you that the i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive ELA and Math assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your child’s needs. Each item a student sees is individualized based on their answer to the previous question. Some questions may seem easy and some may seem challenging. The test adjusts by whether your child answers the questions correctly or not. The results are not a grade. There is no way to fail this test. The results help your child’s teacher know what your child’s needs are, and helps to provide personalized instruction through the i-Ready online program. The End-of-Year Diagnostic provides information in determining the areas of growth your child accomplished throughout the school year as well as future areas to target.

As always, thank you for your continued support and for being a partner in your child’s learning!
