Eatontown Public Schools

Dear Parents/Guardians:

I hope you and your family are well and you have had some time to enjoy the summer weather. I am writing to you today to provide an update on the school planning process for September 2020.

On Friday, June 26, 2020, the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) released guidelines for the reopening of schools in September. Although our district is excited about the opportunity to reopen schools and educate our students in person, there are some new health and safety guidelines that need to be followed in order to safely reopen schools once again. Please click here to review the NJDOE guidelines, “The Road Back – Restart and Recovery Plan for Education”.

Over the next few weeks, the district will continue planning for the September school reopening based upon the NJDOE guidance. Our goal is to develop a viable plan that accounts for student and staff safety by early August. Although final decisions have not been made regarding the school schedule, the school community should expect a hybrid model that balances both remote learning as well as in person learning.

In the very near future, Eatontown Public Schools will be sending a brief survey to the school community via the Parent Portal. Please click here to complete the survey. Your input in this process is valuable and important. Information gained from the survey will help to inform future decisions and actions regarding school reopening.

Future updates will be provided. In the interim, please follow state and local social distancing and face covering guidelines. Please avoid travel to states with high incidents of COVID-19. Last, but not least, encourage your child to read daily and complete the summer learning packets posted on our website and sent via email.

By working together during these challenging times, we can help to ensure our school community feels both physically and emotionally safe.

Thank you for your cooperation and participation in the future survey. Please have a happy and safe summer. Happy 4th of July!

Sincerely,

Scott T. McCue
Superintendent of Schools
