Goodbye to January, Hello to February

Black History Month Facts

On February 1st, the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which abolished slavery, was adopted by the 38th Congress.  Ratification was completed on December 6, 1865.  Also, in 1870, Jonathan Jasper Wright was elected to the South Carolina Supreme Court.

On February 7th, Negro History week originated by Carter G. Woodson is observed for the first time in 1926.  On February 8, 1986, figure skater Debi Thomas became the first African American to win the Women's Singles of the U.S. National Figure Skating Championship competition.  She was a pre-med student at Stanford University.   On February 9, 1979, Baseball Hall of Fame announced that Leroy "Satchel" Paige would be inducted.

On February 10, 1964, after 10 days of debate and voting on 125 amendments, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by a vote of 290-130.  The bill prohibited any state or local government or public facility from denying access to anyone because of race or ethnic origin.  It further gave the U.S. Attorney General the power to bring school desegregation law suits.

     "Going Green"

We urge that parents visit the website for information regarding the Eatontown Public Schools.  Help us go "green."

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

The Eatontown School district needs your email address in order to provide parents/guardians access to all school and district notices and for grades 4 through 8 to provide a parental portal for vital academic information.

Please email your email address to parentemail@eatontown.org.

On this email, please  put your name, list your children, their school and grade for this year, relationship to your children, and one phone number.

You don't have to do anything else.  This will help us get information to parents more quickly, be environmentally and fiscally responsible by saving paper (going green) and save employee time.  We need your email addresses as soon as possible.

SO PLEASE HELP US HELP YOU!  YOU ONLY HAVE TO DO THIS ONCE!  THANK YOU!
