  • Recognizing Autism Awareness Month: April 2017
    April 2, 2017 marks World Autism Awareness Day and people from around the world will be 'Lighting It Up Blue' to shine a bright light on autism. Light It Up Blue, in its third year, is a unique global initiative by Autism Speaks to help raise awareness about the growing public health concern that is autism. Thousands of iconic landmarks, buildings, and homes from around the world are joining in the cause by illuminating in bright blue on the evening of April 2 to show support for millions of people affected by autism.

      *Autism now affects 1 in 68 children and 1 in 42 boys *Autism prevalence figures are growing *Autism is one of the fastest-growing developmental disorders in the U.S. *Autism costs a family $60,000 a year on average *Boys are nearly five times more likely than girls to have autism *There is no medical detection or cure for autism
